“Sarah was an amazing supervisor. She goes above and beyond in making sure you become the best counselor and person you can be. She makes sure you know how organizations work so they won’t take advantage of you. She prepares you to be a great clinician and professional. She will give you the feedback you need to grow and the support to make it through difficult times. She will guide you into the most ethical decision in complex cases. You become part an amazing team and network where you learn from other associates with different population and theoretical approch.”

“Upon entering supervision, I really had no idea what to expect. As I progressed under supervision with Sarah, I learned more about what I should have expected. Empathy, compassion, knowledge, humble, relaxed, collaborative, accountable, ethical, flexible – these are just some of the descriptors that come to mind when I think about the qualities of a great LPC Supervisor. Sarah has all these qualities and more! I don’t think of Sarah as my supervisor, but more so as my mentor and I learned a great deal under her supervision. I HIGHLY recommend Sarah as an LPC Supervisor!”

What to Expect From Clinical Supervision

If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed as you step into the associate-phase and don’t quite know where to begin when it comes to finding a supervisor, that’s totally normal—and you’re not alone. At The Counselor’s Mentor, I often meet LPC-Associates who simply need a clear framework, some encouragement, and a safe space to ask questions. Below are three blog posts I wrote to help you take that next step (at your pace):

You don’t have to have all the answers right now—take your time, give yourself grace, and move forward with intention. If you’d like a friendly virtual meet-and-greet to talk through where you’re at and what you’re looking for in supervision, I’d love to connect.
